I have moved to http://wilddragonchase.blogspot.com/

After much consideration, I have regretfully (...who am I kidding?) come to the decision that I'll be switching to a different blog portal. Having blogged at Livejournal for the past 4 years or so, it does feel as if I'm leaving my memories behind and going some place far far away... But nothing is lost because all the memories will still remain here.. in this livejournal. I may continue to use this lj account for blogging solely on FFXI stuff, but not any more as far as proper blog posts are concerned.

So here I bid farewell to laetis.livejournal.com, and say hello to wilddragonchase.blogspot.com.

As cliche as it sounds, this is the end of an era for me. Goodbye.

Happy Earth Day! Let's all do our part to save the world by cutting down on electrical consumption and turning off our computers NOW! Only problem is, it doesn't work that way.

With the progress of technology, it seems increasingly difficult to have people cut back on energy consumption, and in effect, cut back on raping our planet of her resources. Its a sad fact, but at least there is some effort being done to minimize this usage. Its not all or nothing, its all or a little bit less, as far as 'going green' is concerned. Perhaps there will finally be a day when technology can catch up to the energy footprint its left on this world.

But besides the impact it has on ecology, technology has been causing other advancements as well, like making it painless when your dentist is thrusting a small screw in and out of your tooth. Also, ordering McDonalds from the internet (here). Yes, the advancements are good and all, but it feels like it's interrupted into our lives too much at times. Sometimes we do wonder, how would man live today without technology? We need it for practically everything we do now, but there are some aspects where I feel it has overstepped its boundary...

For example, I had to be involved in some grave-visiting for Qing Ming, and I couldn't help but notice the number of people (usually kids) who were holding on to their PSPs while going about it. It really isn't the fault of technology, but the fact that technology can't control the people who use it. You're already there to pay respects to someone dead; If one day is all you can devote out of the entire year to do so, surely you can do it (at least at the site) without technology getting in the way. Put away the PSP, switch your phone to silent or maybe just turn it off.

Taking the lead would definitely be a website I've been told about in Taiwan (I don't know the URL). Apparently, it allows you to do the whole Qing Ming thing online. How sincere! Seriously, it is a convenience but if doing it defeats the whole purpose then it shouldn't be done...

On a somewhat lighter note, this is a video I've was linked to a long time ago which was pretty interesting. Its abit about animals and the food chain, sort of... It's fairly epic for videos of its sort. Nat Geo needs to pick up on stuff like that.. and apparently this video has generated so much attention that Nat Geo is REALLY sending these guys back to do it.
(Warning: Video may be boring for people who don't like documentaries, especially those from National Geographic)

Enjoy! The Battle at Kruger

I've been changing minor things on my blog lately.. because I'm slowly getting envious of the things that other blog sites have to offer as compared to LJ. For one thing, its not very friendly with 3rd party tools and plug-in things like trackers and such. It took me a hell of a long time to figure out how to implement that.. (at first I even tried switching to abysmal S1... and I don't know CSS stylesheets to customize anything properly in S2).

Eventually I came to a compromise with that Date Out of Order latest post in the near future to put the code into. Its working out okay so far.. but since thats done I'm going to take a further step and take advantage of that being there even more... so a blog revamp seems to be in order. Its been about 4 months now anyway... about time I guess..

What do you get when the FF universe and the DoA universe cross paths? Probably something like this.
Fanmade, the video above, "Dead Fantasy" features stunningly detailed animation of the FF and DoA girls decking it out, with a few surprises thrown in between. The excellent frantic camerawork and chaotic battles are remniscient of FFVII: Advent Children's batles, except with a whole lot more exaggeration, fantasy flavor and subtle out-of-context references. I'm enjoying this to bits so I thought I'd share it. The youtube clip includes both currently released episodes. III is apparently also in the works.

You can also check out this guys DeviantArt page for more details and links to HD versions of the videos..Enjoy :D
